Shayla and Danny are two wonderful people who met up again after years had passed and tied the knot! The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was new to Danny. Shayla knew he’d fall in love with the area once she introduce him to these wonderful mountains. To say the least, she was right. They decided to have their wedding at the Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church.
They rented a fabulous cabin over looking the mountains where they got ready and held the reception for their family and friends.
Danny and Shayla are both musical, so of course they incorporated this into their wedding. Cowboy boots and cowboy hats set the theme for their wedding.
The upper level deck of the cabin had the most beautiful view of the Great Smoky Mountains. There could not have been a better backdrop for the bridal portraits before heading to Cades Cove for the wedding.
Determined not to see each other on their wedding day I suggested they at least hold hands around the corner of the Primitive Baptist Church before the ceremony started.
Shayla wanted to wed at hi-noon! I positioned myself just at the right spot as she stepped into the church to produce this image of the sun flooding her day with warmth and happiness!
Danny has seen Shayla many times before today walking towards him, but his expression seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress was so sweet.
When a couple weds at the Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove, or any other of the churches in the cove, tourist are always welcome and at times they will take a seat on the back row and enjoy the ceremony. This day was no exception. As we made our way through the loop taking more pictures we’d run upon those who had attended the ceremony.
Danny played his guitar and sang to his beautiful bride during the ceremony.
Danny’s granddaughter delivered the rings to them during the ceremony and stole a kiss from each! Shayla’s brother did a wonderful job playing and singing during the ceremony, also. He has a great voice and the acoustics inside the Primitive Baptist Church just added to the beautiful sound.
We do! Reverend Emily was Danny and Shayla’s officiant.
We made our way though the loop in Cades Cove and stopped along the way at the wildlife overlook to capture the majestic mountains behind them.
Tipton Place in Cades Cove is a special place to Shayla. So, of course, we had to stop and take a few more pictures.
Sparks Lane in Cade Cove is one of my favorite places to photograph. Shayla loves horses and was thrilled when the horses began walking her way.
This is one of the many beautiful horses on Sparks Lane in Cades Cove. It was so fitting the the auburn colored horse walked up to Shayla who has beautiful auburn hair herself!
We headed back to the cabin for the wedding reception.
After I told my husband, Tyson, about Danny and Shayla being musical he ask me to mention BR549 to Danny. I didn’t know what he meant, but Danny did. At the end of the day Danny had planned a few fun ideas on the front porch.
Thank you, Shayla and Danny, for being such wonderful people to work with. We enjoyed being your wedding photographers at the Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove!
If you are planning a wedding in the Great Smoky Mountains, I am more than willing to work with you to create the perfect wedding collection to capture your special day!
Note: I hold a CUA (commercial use authorization) permit with the National Park Service which gives Kathy Smith Photography permission to do wedding photography and portrait photography in Cades Cove and all areas of the Great Smoky Mountains.
